The evolution of an American icon

Creative Direction and brand refresh for Martha Stewart Living

Scope: 8+ years of senior creative leadership a multimedia company. print, books, web, social

I led a transformative rebrand of Martha Stewart Living magazine, the brand's 23-year-old cornerstone publication. This overhaul encompassed both content and visual identity. I collaborated extensively with Martha Stewart, the editorial team, and an external designers. Together, we crafted a new strategy, revamped content formats, modernized stories for a multi-platform audience, and implemented fresh editorial structures. We seamlessly extended the magazine's new look and content pillars to the Martha Stewart Living website and social media presence ensuring a cohesive brand experience.

The transformation was undeniable. AdAge itself called it a "masterful renaissance," praising the magazine's award-winning visuals and engaging content. Our revitalized content strategy, featuring best-in-class photography and design that garnered an ASME award for best lifestyle magazine, led to a surge in readership. We reached 8.3 million subscribers and saw annual sales of nearly $26 million.
